Benefits of astro turf

Astro turf originates in 1965, around 60 years ago. Soon after its launch store turf began to sell worldwide, and installations in large sporting arenas began to take place. These stadiums had seem huge improvement as they made the switch from painted dirt ground to the new playing surface. Especially in baseball, it even allowed the game to run smoother, with the ball travelling faster and bouncing higher, it made the sport more exciting for game-players and spectators.

But that is the difference between astro turf and artificial turf?

Although the two may seem close in a sense, the difference is how the products are used by the consumer. Astro turf is aimed heavily towards sporting and active sites, in the UK it is often seen with sand fillings to increase its strength and rigidity for the sports it is used for. Artificial turf is for more aesthetic purposes, it is most commonly seen in gardens and modern green space, for example in gyms, events, lawns…

Is it pet friendly?

As long as you do not have large or rough fillings within your astro turf, it is usually fine for pets to play on. It may be tempting for pets to try and eat the sand or rubber infill, so this is to be taken into account when choosing a filling. There are some types of that work better for pets, the technology can even help to neutralise smells and odours.
